Dr. An is a Professor and Associate Dean of Research & Innovation in the School of Nursing at UCLA. He was the Core Co-Director of the previous UCLA CFAR Gene and Cellular Therapy Core (now the UCLA Humanized Mouse and Gene Therapy Core) for over 12 years, since 2008. Dr. An has extensive experience in laboratory methods used for hematopoietic stem cells in HIV/AIDS gene therapy fields. He has extensive experience in lentiviral vector design, anti-HIV gene expression, RNA interference, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing system and efficient vector transduction in human CD34+ HSPC, and testing genetically engineered CD34+ HSPC by vector delivery of anti-HIV genes and transplant in the humanized mouse model.
