Irvin S.Y. Chen, PhD

Dr. Irvin S.Y. Chen is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology and Molecular Genetics and in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine in the UCLA School of Medicine. He is the current and founding director of the UCLA AIDS Institute since its inception in 1991. He also served as a prior head of the UCLA CFAR for 16 years.  He has made significant scientific contributions to the study of human retroviruses. He will share his leadership experience with the CFAR EC and serve as a liaison to the AIDS Institute.
