SUMMARY:HIV Grand Rounds: Dr. Christopher W. Peterson
DESCRIPTION:Christopher William Peterson\, PhD\nAssistant Professor\,  Translational Science and Therapeutics Division\, Fred Hutch Cancer Center \n“Bridging the Gap: Cell and Gene Therapies for Latent HIV Infection and Other Low-Antigen Diseases”\nOver the past decade\, Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cells have emerged as a potent therapy for B cell malignancies. Applying analogous antigen-specific approaches for diseases such as antiretroviral therapy (ART)-suppressed HIV-1 infection poses additional challenges. This presentation will outline our efforts to deliver supplemental antigen and enhance the potency of anti-HIV cell and gene therapies.

SUMMARY:2023 Inter-CFAR Women and HIV Symposium Women and HIV across the Lifespan
DESCRIPTION:December 6-7\, 2023                        Mission Bay Conference Center\, 1675 Owens St.\, San Francisco\, CA \nThe goal of the Inter-CFAR Women and HIV Symposium is to identify gaps in knowledge in HIV and women’s research and develop strategies that will move the field forward. In order to accomplish this goal\, we aim to generate collaborative activity between CFARs and other research networks\, highlighting cutting-edge science and promoting opportunities for early career investigators. \nThe Symposium will feature three sessions on the following topics: \n\nReproductive Health\, in particular the US Perinatal Guidelines on Breastfeeding with HIV: From Policy to Practice\nAntiretroviral Therapy and Metabolism in the Era of INSTIs: Sex and Gender Differences\nAging with HIV across the Gender Spectrum\n\nRegistration for the 2023 Inter-CFAR Women and HIV Symposium will open in September (sign up on our Membership Form to make sure to receive communications).  There will be no registration fee. \nABSTRACTS DUE Monday\, September 18\, 2023 11:59pm Pacific \nThe planning committee solicits abstracts for posters and oral presentations related to all areas of HIV among women including prevention\, treatment\, and cure. Abstracts may be submitted by investigators of any level. \nAbstracts will be considered for both oral and poster presentation\, with 12 oral presentations to be competitively selected with special consideration to meritorious abstracts submitted by early-stage investigators (pre-doctoral students through Assistant Professors) and investigators from groups historically underrepresented in the U.S. research enterprise\, including underrepresented racial and ethnic groups\, and individuals with disabilities and from disadvantaged backgrounds. Abstracts must be no more than 350 words in length. Review criteria include overall impact\, contribution to the field of HIV in women\, and responsiveness to NIH Office of AIDS Research Priorities. Full travel scholarships will be awarded to oral presenters\, and partial travel scholarships will be awarded to poster presenters. \nSubmit your abstract here: http://depts.washington.edu/hivwomen/2023symposium/callforabstracts \nQuestions can be directed to Lauren Sterling (lauren.sterling@ucsf.edu).
